First, a non-legalese summary of our principles:

• We will not sell your data. Fairmind is a public service operated by volunteers. We have no business interest in your data.

• We want you to be anonymous. Unless you have reason to log in or give us information about yourself, our goal is to keep you anonymous. You can use Fairmind’s decision guides without being logged in. And when we automatically receive technical information, such as your IP address, our policy is to remove it, obscure it, or otherwise ignore it.

• If you use the AI walkthrough, it is directly with the AI service we send you to (for example, ChatGPT). We do not see the data. Your AI conversation is subject to the privacy policy of the AI service.

• If you provide personal information for a specific reason, we will only use it for that reason. For example, if you provide your email address in our contact form, we will only use it to respond to you.

• If you are a logged-in Fairmind editor or administrator, your edits and other actions will have your username associated with them. The purpose is to have you be accountable for what you create or change.

Legal Terms

Fairmind has established this Privacy Policy to explain what information we collect, how it is used, how it is protected, and how you can request its deletion. By using Fairmind, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Interpretation and Definitions

Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

• Account means a unique account created for You, as an editor or administrator, to access parts of Our Service relevant to those roles.

• Cookies are small files that are placed on Your Device that allow us to store information that we can read later—for example, to let us remember which edition of a fairmind you last viewed so we can restore it for you.

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

While using Our Service, We may ask You to provide Us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify You—for example, your email address and your name.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using Our Service. We use Vercel Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service. It collects basic usage information such as which pages are visited, when those visits occur, general location data (country/region level), and referrer information. The service does not use cookies, does not collect IP addresses or other personally identifiable information, and automatically discards visitor session data after 24 hours. All data is anonymized and aggregated, so there is no intent or attempt to understand who visitors are in a personally identifiable way. We retain only aggregated usage statistics (such as total page views by day or most popular pages) to understand usage trends and to improve Our Service.

Cookies

We use Cookies and related tracking technologies to store certain information and track the activity on Our Service. Tracking technologies are tags and scripts to collect information that lets us monitor, analyze, and improve Our Service. The technologies We use may include:

• Cookies for storing your state. As you interact with Our Service, your “state” comprises things like whether you are logged in, whether you have seen certain one-time notifications, and so on. AI-Assisted Decision Guides

Our decision guides offer the option to use AI assistance. When you choose this feature:

• You interact directly with a third-party AI service. This interaction happens entirely between you and that AI service (for example, ChatGPT)—not through Fairmind.
• We have no access to your AI conversations. Fairmind does not receive, store, or have any visibility into the conversations you have with AI services. We cannot see your questions, the AI’s responses, or any personal information you may share during those interactions.
• The AI service’s privacy policy applies. When you interact with an AI service, that service’s own privacy policy and terms of service govern how your data is handled. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any AI service you choose to use.

Use of Your Personal Data

We may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain Our Service, including to monitor the usage of Our Service.

• To manage Your Account. The Personal Data You provide can give You access to different capabilities of Our Service available to registered users (for example, editors and administrators).

• To contact You in response to a request from You or, if applicable, as part of your role as an editor or administrator on Our Service.

• For other purposes. We may use Your information for other purposes, such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, and determining the effectiveness of our communications and user experience.

We may share Your personal information in the following situations:

• With Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of Our Service or to contact You.

• For business transfers in connection with significant organizational changes, such as merging with another entity or restructuring our operations.

• With Your consent, such as if you provide information for a public profile page on Our Service.

If you are an editor or administrator on Our Service, deleting your Personal Data may mean that we replace your username with a token like ”Deleted User” so that the integrity of a fairmind’s history is maintained. Also, we may need to retain certain information when we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Business Transactions

If We have a major organizational change, such as merging with another nonprofit project, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time, which will be reflected on this page. For users that have given us an email address have not opted-out of such messages, We will let You know via email of significant changes to this Privacy Policy.
